This topic is for the coming Playstation Move addon for PS3.
Is it wii ripoff which is going to fail or something that will make the PS3 the king of the hill?

Well speaking as someone who has tooled around with IR motion based tech quite a bit in the past, I can say that Sony Isn't exactly ripping off the Wii (at least from a tech standpoint) But in the end, they are going to have the exact same problem as the Wii, Devs and Players.
Ever since the launch of the Wii near sighted journalists, those touting the 'hardcore' banner and the 'too self important to learn something new and have fun with it' such as Brad 'Yatzee' Crowshaw, have all labeled the Wii and its motion control as a gimmick. The idea that it either was not 1:1, that the Wii itself lacked hoursepower or simply a fear of having to actually move around when gaming has caused the already corrupt industry to turn its nose up at the idea of motion control and thus turn off many players who are more apt to read reviews than try things for themselves. Devs know this naturally, and thus the statements about the Wii 'never having a good game' acted almost like a self-fulfilling prophecy driving people to continue business as usual for the other two consoles and only occasionally dip their pinky toes in the vast new ocean waiting to be explored.
Now, it is clear sony realizes this, and to an extent they have tired to compensate. They are releasing their own media campaign to emphasize that they will not be an engine for 'casual games' like people assume the Wii to be. They have also taken one step towards appeasing the irrational many gamers have of 'simplistic' graphics, releasing many of the same initial minigames as the Wii only with vastly superior graphics, giving them a sharper look. This may draw in a few people who feel boxing with more realistic people translates to 'hardcore' and the like, but in the end it won't win any major advances for the Move.
Where the Move will really shine or fail really falls to an advantage Nintendo has which has probably been the main reason for them coming out on top this time around even with so much poor press. Even if some people are sick of first party games by the producer/developer it is hard to say objectively that they are not good, solid, fun to play games. things like twilight princess, Super Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime 3 set a clear benchmark for what the Wii can do, and with it a benchmark for motion gaming in general. Arguably with higher horse power and better graphics Sony has a huge leg up on games of this type being produced, but without third party support and devs who feel like taking the risk and making a game that fully immerses people in the motion control odds are good the whole concept will fall on its face.
Still if the PS3 can drum up some support on the level of Nintendos dedicated development, I think it will end up working out very well. I could see the improved horsepower in the PS3 being put to use helping run more complex motion sensing programs should the programmers themselves feel like taking on such a task, and odds are good the improved Graphical horsepower will appease the 'hardcore' crowd enough to get them trying motion control games.
In the end its a gambit. Sony doesn't have Nintendos history of taking failed original concepts and refining them over a long period into workable products, but they aren't using Microsoft's laughable lack of standards and 'constant working beta' philosophy either. The move will most likely be a quality product and will turn a few heads in spite of the bitter protest of corrupt or self important reviewers and other aforementioned factors.
